"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek."
Romans 1:16
How do I even begin to describe the most beautiful and precious truth of all eternity? Can any human words provide a proper introduction for the glorious gospel? No. I am aware I can never fully make known to anyone how wonderful and awesome God's salvation plan is. But through His Word, the Bible, I desire to share with you a glimpse of this vast ocean of hope we call the gospel.
Throughout the ages the question has been posed, "What is the gospel?". In short, the gospel is the salvation plan by which a righteous and holy God forgives heinous sinners like you and I and brings us into an everlasting relationship with Himself. It is the gospel of Jesus Christ found within the pages of His infallible (without error) Word, the Bible. The beginning of this amazing salvation story starts with God himself.
Who is God? According to scripture, He is the only living and true God(1 Timothy 1:17). We can know that He exists by the world we see around us since Genesis 1 says that, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Not only did He create the heavens and the earth but He also created you and me. Romans 1:19 tells us that, "What can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them." God has shown us that He exists by His creation which points to a creator, God Himself.
God is good. In His word we see that:
"The LORD of hosts is exalted in justice, and the Holy God shows himself holy in righteousness."
(Isaiah 5:16)
"His works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He."
(Deuteronomy 32:4)
God is the epitome of perfection. Being without sin or error, He is not only the creator but also the judge and ruler of this world.
So, are you ready for the most terrifying truth that you could ever hear? God is good. Why is this such terrifying news? Answer: because we are not. "None is righteous, no, not one, no one understands, no one seeks for God. No one does good, not even one." (Romans 3:10-12) Just to make sure this verse also applies to you, would you like to take the good person test?
The Good Person Test:
Rules: Answer the questions with yes or no only using completely honest answers.
Just like there is a punishment for breaking laws here on this earth, speeding and getting a ticket for example, so there is a punishment for breaking God's law. Romans 6:23 tells us that, "For the wages (punishment or penalty) of sin is death." God is perfect, we are not. Instead, we are vile sinners who have offended the God of the universe by rejecting Him and not obeying His commandments. We deserve hell for all eternity. This is what God's Word says concerning this topic:
"God is angry with the wicked every day." (Psalm 7:11)
"The wrath of God remains on (the sinner)." (John 3:36)
"Because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed." (Romans 2:5)
Does this scare you? Does this cause you to stop, slow down and truly consider the path of life you are walking? It should... in fact, if it doesn't cause you to stop, you are in a far worse situation than you think. Please, stop and consider God's perfect holiness as compared to our sinful, selfish, rebellious attitudes and actions. The following news cannot be seen in its true light until we are consider and meditate on our own terrifying position as enemies and traitors of the God of the Universe.
The Good News:
"But God demonstrated His love for us that while we were still sinners Christ died for us."
(Romans 5:8)
The truth is someone had to carry the punishment that we earned by breaking God's law. However, the best truth of all is that Jesus carried and paid our punishment for us! Jesus lived the perfect life we could never have lived. Because He was God, He was the only one who could ever live a life of perfection without sin. Being sinless, He took our punishment on Himself by dying on the cross He paid for our sin so that we might be forgiven!
"He was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His wounds we are healed."
(Isaiah 53:5)
Although Christ died in order that we might be forgiven, He did not stay dead.
"Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, he was buried, (and) He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures."
(I Corinthians 15:3-4)
Jesus is not still in a grave! He rose from the dead defeating death and He is now in heaven reigning and ruling(Ephesians 1:12-23)! And this same Jesus calls you to come.
Jesus Christ wants to offer you a gift, a free gift. He desires that you come to Him, that your sins be washed in His blood so that you may be forgiven and have a relationship with God. He is calling, you just need to respond. How do you respond?
"The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe the gospel."
(Mark 1:15)
"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
( 2 Chronicles 7:14)
God never promises us tomorrow. Please take the time today to seek the Lord and turn from your sin. God is always faithful to hear our pleas for mercy.
Because of Christ,
Kayla

- Have you always loved God above everything else?

- Have you ever stolen anything, regardless of its value?
